MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

Congratulations to our Winners,

On April 9, nearly 1,000 people, including Quebec Premier Jean Charest, attended the Mercuriades Gala honouring outstanding entrepreneurship among Quebec-based businesses. We’ve received many compliments about what a great evening it was, and how important this event has become over the years – a command performance for members of Quebec’s business community.

I’ve also had the pleasure of visiting many of Quebec’s different regions during the tour when we announced the business finalists in the 2008 competition. This was a great opportunity for me to see the successful businesses firsthand and get a closer look at the activities and achievements that have done so much to promote Quebec’s economic growth. There’s no doubt that these are the companies that are making Quebec a winner on all fronts, at home and abroad.

On behalf of the Federation of Quebec Chambers of Commerce (FCCQ), I would like to congratulate all 2008 Mercuriades business finalists and winners. Actually, we like to think of them all as winners because of the impressive progress they’ve all made in identifying their real strengths and areas for improvement. The effort required to assemble and present documents for entering a world-class competition like the Mercuriades was a great opportunity to think seriously about their business performance and achievements. I’m sure this exercise will prove to be a helpful guide and generate real value in their activities over the long term.

If you’d like to learn more about our 28th annual finalists and winners, simply click the “Gala” tab. To hear interviews with official representatives from the winning businesses, click on the LesAffaires.com capsule.

In closing, I’d like to sincerely thank all our partners and supporters, without whom the Mercuriades could not take place.
